Eastpoint fire relief continues; WTXL to host Question Center

EASTPOINT, Fla. (WTXL) - People in Eastpoint are still in need after flames tore through their neighborhood last month.

The fire destroyed 36 homes and burned more than 800 acres.

State officials say the fire got out of control after a prescribed burn.

According to a Go Fund Me page, an estimated 200 people are now displaced as a result of the fire, and many are without insurance.

WTXL wants to continue fundraising efforts.

On Thursday, July 19, the station is hosting a WTXL Question Center to encourage people to continue making monetary donations as well as mattresses.

Wildfire victims and Franklin County Emergency Management officials will be in the newsroom answering your calls.

The Question Center will be up and running during our 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m.and 6 p.m. newscasts on Thursday.
