MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL)--We didn't see much rain Saturday but showers of Easter eggs fell on parts of our viewing area, 30,000 of them, in Albany, Tallahassee and Thomasville.
Easter came a little early for hundreds of children.
We stopped by a sports complex in Thomasville and Freedom Church in Tallahassee as about 14,000 eggs were dropped from our WTXL ABC 27 chopper in partnership with Tallahassee Helicopters.
For 10 years Freedom Church has held a community egg hunt.
"The most exciting thing today was seeing all the families together enjoying the beautiful day and celebrating the real meaning of Easter," said Kyle Alford, a pastor at Freedom Church.
Northwoods Church of God in Thomasville put on all sorts of activities including this egg drop.
"It's basically a chance to give back to the community," said Damien Salazar, the pastor at
Kids throughout the communities were eager to get their hands on the eggs. After all, as soon as the eggs hit the ground they were gone in minutes.
Inside the eggs were candy and toys for children to enjoy as they celebrate Easter.
