Early Morning Fire in Tallahassee Causes Thousands of Dollars in Damages

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The Tallahassee Fire Department responded to an early morning fire in the Killearn neighborhood on Sunday.

Crews were dispatched the 3400 block of Mahoney Drive around 5:00 a.m. where heavy smoke was reported in side a two-story residence. Crews made an aggressive interior attack and were able to contain the fire to the laundry and kitchen areas. 

The owner was home at the time of the fire, but was able to escape unharmed. 

Two pets were trapped inside of the home. One was able to escape; however, the other died. 

There is an estimated $60k in damages.
