WOODVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man has been arrested after he was spotted walking through a local neighborhood with a loaded AR-15 rifle.
David Moyer, 47, was arrested by the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
On Wednesday, deputies received a call about Moyer walking up and down a Tallahassee neighborhood with a AR-15 and a helmet with night vision goggles attached.
When deputies arrived on scene, they spoke with several witnesses who said they saw Moyer driving a black truck, carrying a rifle, and walking onto people's property. Once deputies began to drive around to find Moyer, they were waved down by a woman who said he was in her front yard.
Deputies then spotted Moyer with an assault rifle that had a suppressor on the front and a magazine in the weapon. He was also wearing a baggy camouflage jacket that covered his waistline.
When deputies were able to secure him into handcuffs, they also found a knife and night vision goggles in his pockets as well as a handgun in a holster on his waistband.
According to court documents, Moyer had an odor of alcohol coming from his breath while talking to deputies. He told investigators that he came out there to hunt, but when deputies asked if he knew where he was, he replied "no."
Deputies said Moyer had four handguns in his truck, all which were loaded and readily accessible. The handgun found on his hip and the rifle he had in his hands were also loaded. All weapons had one bullet in the chamber, none of the weapons had safeties on, and the rifle found in his hands was set to fire.
On his way to the Leon County Detention Facility, Moyer told deputies that he just did something stupid and was not a bad guy. He said, "I really want you to believe me. I am not just some drunk guy in the back of your car."
Based on the evidence, he is being charged with loitering and prowling, armed trespassing, using firearm while under the influence of alcoholic beverages, improper exhibition of dangerous firearms, and engaging in criminal offense while having weapons.
He was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.
