TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) – Residents the city’s northeast side are shocked to learn that their cars were broken into last night. TPD say they need your help to prevent more crimes like this from happening. Ray Ford recently moved into his house on Sedona Ln. three months ago with his wife and child to try to escape the crime of other parts of town, ”Just looking around, it's a really, you know, just peaceful place to live and to have something like that to happen is really disconcerting."

TPD says 20 to 30 cars were broken into last night on the city's northeast side: Killmartin Lane, Morarirty Ct, Shamrock South, Sparrowhawk Ct, Aqua Ridge Way, Cameron Chase, Dry Creek Run, Buckhead Ct, Benton Dr, and Hedgewood Dr.  Criminals were hitting up these streets between 3 and 6-am. Groups would go car to car checking to see if they were unlocked--and if so they would steal the belongings inside.

Oh, absolutely, absolutely concerns me. Hate to see any kind of crime, “Blake Gehres, a Killearn Estates resident, says he hopes people would be discouraged to break into his cars because he has a set of motion-activated flood lights. But there's another option.  The solution is simple enough if you don't want to be the next victim. When you leave your car, don't forget to lock it."

However Ford isn't just worried about his car, “If you know that you have a group of guys or whoever who are going around and checking car doors to see whether they're open or not, what's to say that they wouldn't do the same thing for a house--try to see if a door is open there."

Tallahassee Police do not currently have any suspects for these cases.
