BRENTWOOD, TN (WSVN/CNN) - A woman is recovering after being bitten multiple times by brown recluse spiders.
She said the creatures have invaded her apartment despite the fact that the management company sprayed her apartment, and now she wants to leave.
"And we were finding brown recluses left and right - in our bed, on the ceiling, in my iron, in her shoe," Angela Wright said.
It's hard to miss the spider traps in every corner of Wright's apartment.
She put them there after finding nearly 50 brown recluse spiders in her bedroom.
"I noticed that my arm, my left arm, was hurting, and then I just casually dismissed it," Wright said.
Doctors confirmed she was bitten at least three times.
"I couldn't walk. I couldn't move and barely could swallow. I was starting to hallucinate," Wright said.
Despite the spraying, the spiders came back.
Wright asked the landlord at her Views of Brentwood apartment complex to break her lease.
She recorded her landlord's answer on her cell phone: "We're never going to get rid of them. It's just part of Nashville and the South in general."
"They said that you know the only thing that they can do is give me a 60-day notice, and I will have to fulfill that," Wright said.
That obligation will cost her $2,200.
The biggest mistake renters make is refusing to pay rent, said John Augusta with Eastside Legal.
"People always believe and think, ‘Landlords not fix the plumbing, I can stop paying my rent. Landlord not fixing the air, I can stop paying my rent,’" he said
Those in a similar situation should pay it while they figure out their next move, Augusta said.
She has already packed her apartment and hopes to be out as soon as possible.
“This isn't my problem. I came here thinking that this was a nice place to live at," Wright said.
The brown recluse is one of the most venomous spiders, usually between the size of a quarter and a half-dollar.
The brown color that gives it its name can range from a light yellowish brown to a dark red or chocolate brown.
The main features that distinguishes the brown recluse are a violin-shaped marking on the spider's body and their three pairs of eyes arranged in a semi-circle.
