TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - In just four days, a GoFundMe account has raised nearly $10,000 for a Florida State University student who was jailed after throwing chocolate milk on a Republican volunteer.

Shelby Shoup, 19, turned herself into the Tallahassee Police Department on Nov. 1, a day after the incident, and was released on her own recognizance.

So far, Shoup's GoFundMe account has raised $9,120 of her $10,000 goal in four days.

In her GoFundMe account, it states Shelby has been receiving constant rape and death threats and fears both for her life and the safety of her family. It also stated she needs funds for re-housing and transportation in order to ensure her safety.

According to the GoFundMe account, any leftover donations will go towards Hurricane Michael relief efforts.
