TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It's been more than three months since Hurricane Michael but its effects are still very real for the storm's victims, many who still need help.

The Salvation Army says the donations received nationwide following Michael added up to significantly less than donations than the previous three hurricanes to hit the United States.

Lieutenant Ryan Meo says there may be a couple of reasons for that.

"It could be because Hurricane Michael may have been in a less populated area than some of the other hurricanes and where they went or it could just be that with it being the last storm in the season, that could have effected the amount of donations," said Meo.

The Salvation Army was still able to provide more than 1.5 million meals in the Florida Panhandle after the hurricane hit.
