TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Three dogs were rescued from a house fire Tuesday morning, according to firefighters.

At 7:51 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a report of a smoking roof in the 4200 block of Sherborne Road. Reports say firefighters extinguished a fire that started in the bathroom and had spread to the attic.

Neighbors told firefighters that the family was out of town and that no one was home. But, TFD says firefighters searched the home and safely evacuated three dogs.

The cause of the fire was electrical and damage is estimated to be $60,000, according to officials.

TFD reports the dogs are being taken care of by friends of the family. No injuries were reported on scene.
