VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - Police say they are looking to pursue criminal charges for animal cruelty after a dog was found dead at a Valdosta home.

Valdosta Police say the dog was found in the 2100 block of N. Troupe St. but the residents are said to have moved out on June 23.

The dog was found tied to the back wall of the home with no adequate food or water and exposed to the extreme heat, according to police.

VPD says the dog was "skin and bones" and had a bad flea infestation. It was dead when discovered by authorities.
