JACKSON, Miss. (AP)-- A doctor has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to repay nearly $8.2 million for fraud at a Mississippi cancer center.
U.S. District Judge Daniel Jordan sentenced Dr. Meera Sachdeva on Friday. He says syringes were re-used and different patients' chemotherapy drugs were drawn from the same bag. Jordan says prosecutors were unable to prove drugs were watered down.
Sachdeva founded Rose Cancer Center in Summit in 2005. She pleaded guilty July 13 to one count of health care fraud and two counts of making false statements.
Monica Weeks handled clinic billing and was sentenced Friday to three months' house arrest. She previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy.
Office manager Brittany McCoskey was sentenced to 13 months in prison. She previously pleaded guilty to making false statements.
