MIAMI (AP) — The FBI wants two of its undercover employees to testify in disguise and with other protections in the upcoming trial in South Florida of a Kenyan man on terrorism support charges.
Federal prosecutors have asked a judge to allow the two FBI witnesses to wear wigs, facial hair and glasses when they testify. The FBI says disguise is essential to protect their identities and prevent possible physical harm.
Prosecutors also want the courtroom partially closed during their testimony, with a TV feed provided to the press and public in another room.
A May 4 trial is set in Miami for 27-year-old Mohamed Said, who has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and attempted terrorism material support to a Syrian terror group and Africa's al-Shabaab organization. A co-defendant pleaded guilty.
