TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Developers are working on housing options by Bannerman Crossings in northeast Tallahassee.
The first phase will include 22 townhouses and nine single-family homes which developers call "the skinnies."
Some homes with side porches are modeled after architecture in New Orleans and Charleston.
Developers say the housing next to the shopping center benefits both the businesses and new residents.
"We think the project is going to take off. We hope to be able to pre-sell most of the homes in Phase I and look forward to taking it out to market very soon. There's nothing else like this in town," said Claude Walker, CEO of Summit Group. "It's been successful in other cities. We've shown the renderings to people, and they like them, so we thought it'd be something to try out."
The townhouses are priced just under $400,000. The project which covers around 50 acres will eventually include a storm water pond and other development in later phases.
