TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - One of the biggest development projects in recent Tallahassee history is finally picking up again.

It's the Cascades Park Project.

The plan is to bring a live work play experience to a two-block area on East Gaines Street, directly across from Cascades Park.

Developers met Wednesday morning, rehashing the plans.

It's projected to generate more than $350 million in economic impact and create nearly 700 permanent jobs.

The president of the Tallahassee Downtown Business Association said this is all in an effort to make downtown Tallahassee an 18 hour destination.

"I think it benefits the community by providing a downtown destination for people that want to live downtown, work downtown, and be downtown utilizing the park," said Shawn McIntyre, Managing Partner of North American Properties. "I think it's going to benefit, by the community, by raising the quality of life."

The first phase of the project is set to open late next year.
