TALLAHASSEE, FLA (WTXL) -   Work continues at the Tallahassee Mall as project details are being finalized. Interior demolition on the mall began in September and the city expects that work to take a couple of months.

The demolition is part of phase 1 of the mall's re-construction. Project planners attended today's city commission meeting to give the latest update on the mall's progress.

The most visible progress has been the demolition of the food court area. Phase 1 has also been approved for a conditional amphitheatre. At today's city commission meeting, project planners gave a presentation on several other ideas they'd like to include in phase 1.

The next stage in the  construction process is to discuss potential opportunities with the nearby Trousdell Aquatics center, Star Metro, and Green Way Trails. The planning department says they're most excited about drawing crowds back into the area again.

The project developers are currently set to rebuild 38% of the mall, but they say their plans could expand later on. No details have been released yet about a possible phase 2. Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed by the end of Spring 2015.
