SEFFNER, Fla. - A bald eagle is recovering after a trapper and a Tampa Bay area deputy pulled the bird from a pond last week.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports that a Seffner homeowner reported the eagle splashing at the edge of a small pond on his property Friday. He said a second eagle appeared to be trying to pull the injured bird from the water.

Officials say a deputy responded to the home and then called in a licensed trapper from Owl's Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife. The deputy and trapper captured the eagle and began giving it intravenous fluids.

A news release says the eagle will undergo rehab at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Orlando and eventually be returned to the wild. It wasn't known how the bird became injured.
