MACON, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a sheriff's deputy in central Georgia shot and wounded a man after authorities say he came at the law officer with a knife.

Bibb County Sheriff David Davis tells WMAZ-TV (http://on.wmaz.com/1wV5pXt) that Deputy Ossie Cotton shot Raymond Kitchens in the stomach after the suspect lunged at him with a knife.

The shooting happened after deputies responded to reports of a domestic dispute around 9 a.m. Wednesday. Davis said a woman told deputies she was in a fight with Kitchens.

Deputies say Kitchens ran from the house, but they caught up with him and used a stun gun on him. Authorities say he broke loose and ran again, but Cotton eventually caught up with him and shot him once during a struggle.

Davis said Kitchens' injuries are not considered life-threatening.
