MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Deputies are warning Big Bend residents about a scam where a company calls you for a survey, sends unsolicited medical supplies to your house, and then bills your insurance company for them.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says a company is calling residents gathering information for a survey and they ask health related questions relating to any possible ailments you're experiencing or have experienced in the past.

Deputies say after you talked to the company, a package arrives in the mail that will contain medical items and equipment that the company has ordered for you due to the questions they asked.

The company then bill your insurance company for those items.

The company associated with this scam is L J H Medical Solutions out of Largo, FL (801 W Bay Dr STE 504).  The medical equipment may be sent from a Comfortland Medical Inc. out of Mebane, NC (790 A O Smith Rd.).

However, MCSO says there may be other companies participating in the scam.

MCSO says if you receive a call like this, please do not give them any information and call MCSO at 850-973-4001 ext 1 to report the scam. If you receive a package that you did not order, return it to sender and contact your insurance company to let them know.
