LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office is warning about a fake Instagram account posing as 'Sherifff' Walt McNeil to scam residents.
Deputies say there is a fake/spoofed Instagram account for Sheriff Walt McNeil circulating local residents' feeds.
If you have followed this account, LCSO is asking that you do not accept any messages from the account and unfollow it as soon as possible.
"We have received reports that this account has been using a common scam to try and get money from victims," deputies wrote in a social media post.
The sheriff's office is currently working to have this fake account removed. They say you can easily recognize the fake account because 'Sheriff' is spelled with three f's.
