ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say an Orange County Sheriff's deputy was injured when a man rammed his car into his patrol car.
The incident happened Sunday night as the deputies were trying to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation. Deputies say the car sped away from the deputies, then turned around and drove quickly back toward the patrol vehicle. One deputy was pinned between the vehicles.
The Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/169XEWc ) reports the deputy and his partner fired at the car, injuring the driver and his passenger. The injured deputy and the two suspects were taken to the hospital.
A spokesman says the deputy was in good spirits early Monday.
The driver of the car was in critical condition and in surgery early Monday. The passenger's condition wasn't available.
