TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Deputies have arrested a teenager for falsely reporting an attempted abduction.
The Leon County Sheriff's Officer says that the 15 year-old made the report on Tuesday, saying she was walking on Miccosukee Road and a person driving a truck attempted to pull her inside.
The teen told Deputies she was able to escape by climbing out of the passenger door.
"News of a crime such as this caused concern and fear among many in our community, and rightfully so" said Sheriff Mike Wood. "This afternoon, after an intensive investigation it has been determined that this reported crime did not occur and the alleged victim in this case has admitted she filed a false report to gain attention, there was no attempted abduction".
Deputies say she is being charged with filing a false report of a crime.
