LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office is reminding residents of the importance of pulling over when you see police or hear emergency vehicle sirens.

This in response to a deputy's cruiser being hit last night by a suspected drunk driver.

Deputy Chris Poole was out of his patrol car on Stadium Drive helping a driver, when 22-year-old Myles Green sped across the median hitting his patrol vehicle.

Green was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office is now reminding people of the law.

They say, to always be aware of your surroundings while driving and to never get behind the wheel of a vehicle after drinking.

Lt. Grady Jordan says, drivers should always use caution no matter what your physical state might be.

"You don't realize the type of impact that vehicle can have when you strike something. When you're drunk behind the wheel your driving a 2,000 pound basically a 2,000 pound weapon that can damage a lot of people and a lot of vehicles a lot of cars a lot of other property," said Lt. Jordan.

No one was injured during last nights incident.
