SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Suwannee County Sheriff's Office has reached out to Franklin County Emergency Management (FCEM) staff to offer help after the wildfire on Sunday.
According to FCEM, their immediate needs are tools, gloves, rakes, cleaning supplies, Meals Ready to Eat (MRE), and water to help with the cleanup effort.
SCSO says they have operated Suwannee County Emergency Management for ten years. During that time, they have received many of the supplies needed by Franklin County through donations from local, state, and national partners.
SCSO stated some of the items expire soon and rather than let them sit in storage and go to waste, Sheriff St John has decided to pass them along to the people in Franklin County.
Wednesday, Sheriff St John and members of SCSO loaded a trailer with supplies and will deliver them to the affected areas of Franklin County on Thursday.
FCEM has also partnered with Franklin's Promise Coalition which is a registered non-profit who serves as Franklin County's Unmet Needs Committee and Long Term Recovery Coalition.
100 percent of donations through them will go to the affected families through their established case management system working in partnership with the Franklin County Emergency Operation Center.
