SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Suwannee County Sheriff's Office says they've been receiving calls about a new scam involving an alleged kidnapping.

Deputies say that they have received several calls today from people reporting that they received a phone call claiming that someone they know has been kidnapped.

People have reported that the caller then demanded money for the "victim's" release. In each of these cases, the claims were false, and everyone was safe.

If you receive one of these calls, SCSO is asking that you do not provide your credit card number, or agree to transfer money via Western Union, Green Dot, or Money Gram.

If you receive a call, notify the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office at 386-362-2222.
