TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man was arrested after being accused of shooting an AR style rifle at a Tallahassee club from inside his car.

Deaven Williams, 24, was taken into custody by the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

On Dec. 29, multiple units responded to Fairbanks Ferry Road in reference to Williams with a rifle.

When deputies arrived on scene, Williams ran from across the road stating he did not know who was shooting or if he had been shot.

Deputies said it was unknown at that time who was involved and that Williams crashed his vehicle into a ditch.

A witness told deputies that Williams was the shooter and he was immediately taken into custody.

When deputies searched Williams' car, they found an AR style rifle in the front passenger seat area and several spent shell casings in the back of the car.

While talking with deputies, Williams said he arrived at a club with a person he just picked up. While at the club, he said he never got out of the car and was told by some people that he needed to leave the area.

According to Williams, this was due to several people thinking he had some involvement with the murder of a Tallahassee man several weeks ago.

Williams said after a short time, an unknown person started to shoot at his car from the back of the club and that's when he drove away from the scene, crashing his car into the ditch.

Williams told deputies he never shot from his car nor did he have a gun and said he did not know about the rifle found in his car.

He also said he would not shoot at the club because he could not see who was shooting at him and there was a large group of people standing in between him and the club.

A witness told deputies that Williams did indeed get out of his car with the rifle pointing down at the ground.

According to the witness, when unknown people did begin to shoot at Williams, he did ultimately shoot the rifle while he was driving away.

Deputies found multiple shell casings in the back of the club and a single shell casing in the roadway near the entrance of the club.

The shell casings found along the roadway also appeared to be the same style that was found in Williams' car.

Deputies also learned that Williams was convicted of felony possession of cocaine in 2016 in Grady County, Ga.

Based on the shell casings found inside Williams' car and the shell casing found on the ground, he is being charged with knowingly and willingly discharging a firearm from his vehicle within 1,000 feet of a person.

He also faces a charge of possession of weapon or ammo by another state felon.

Williams was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility, but has since bonded out.
