TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A local dentist office will take that candy off your hands.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams explains how you can donate it.
The Tallahassee Pediatric Dentistry is collecting any candy that families are willing to part with and is sending it to troops overseas.
The dentist office says the giveback is of course keeping the little ones teeth healthy, but also teaching them how to honor and thank those serving.
Anyone in the community is invited to bring in candy, earning a dollar for every pound donated up to five pounds.
Operation Gratitude is sending a little piece of home life the men and women serving the country.
WTXL spoke with Lauren Burkhart, a dental assistant at the Tallahassee Pediatric Dentistry.
"It's obviously really rewarding and it seems really small and insignificant but if that little bit of candy to deployed service members can bring a little glimpse of what its like back home and bring a little smile to their face, then it's worth it," she said.
The drive ends Monday, November 5.
You can drop off donations during normal business hours at the dentist office. It's located on Killearn Center Boulevard.
