DECATUR, GA. (AP) - DeKalb County sheriff's officials say an inmate has died after being injured while he was in custody.
Spokeswoman Cynthia Williams says 22-year-old Markese Lashaun Lewis died Thursday after being hospitalized on June 5. Williams says Lewis attempted suicide and had received emergency medical services afterward. Details on the man's injuries weren't immediately available.
Williams says Lewis's death is being reviewed. Williams says Lewis had been in custody since April 25 on charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and simple battery.
