VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - When students at Pinevale Elementary come back to school in the fall, they will not be seeing a familiar face. That's because Johnnie Mae Woods is retiring this year.
According to Jennifer Steedley, Director of Public Relations at Valdosta City Schools, Woods has bee a dedicated employee of the schools' Nutrition Program for over four decades. Steedley says Woods, who started her career in 1972 as a cashier, worked her way up through the ranks to become a manager, winning Valdosta City Schools' Manager of the Year award, twice.
"Her work ethic over the years has proven to be nothing short of superior," said Steedley. "She has worked diligently and selflessly throughout her career serving thousands of children."
