TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - An Ohio State football player goes missing for two days, and then turns up dead in a dumpster, from what police say, was a self inflicted gun shot wound.

The Ohio State football team took the field on Saturday without backup defensive lineman Kosta Karageorge. A day later, police found his body. Just before he went missing, police say he texted his mother around 1:30 a.m., saying he was confused after suffering several concussions. In his text, he told his mother -- he was sorry if he was an embarrassment to their family.

His death and the events surrounding it, have many questioning the impact of concussions in sports like football.

Tonight on WTXL ABC 27 News at 5:30, Doctor Jacob Vanlandingham joined us to discuss the seriousness of concussions and brain trauma. He is an assistant professor in Biomedical Sciences at the FSU College of Medicine.

Dr. Vanlandingham is also part of a team working to improve the chances of recovery after traumatic brain injury. For more on that, visit Http://prevacus.com/
