TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WWSB) -- Time is running out for parents who want to put their kids in Florida's Prepaid College Tuition program.
Tuesday, Feb. 28 is the enrollment deadline.
After that date, families will have to wait until the end of the year for the next open enrollment period.
Prices are up slightly from last year, by an average of two percent.
Any child in Florida from newborn through 11th grade may take part in the program.
A traditional four-year university plan now costs $187 per month, up four dollars from last year.
Shannon Colavecchio, Spokesperson, Florida Prepaid: "It is a way that you are able to actually plan your budget, based on what you can do. Then you know that when they get to college, if you've paid that 187 per month every month… when they get to college, their four year university tuition is covered."
There are additional, less expensive prepaid tuition options available to fit the budgets of most families, including two and four year plans to cover state colleges, or hybrid plans for two years at a state college and two more at a university.
The cheapest plan covers one year at a university, and costs $47 per month.
