PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Law enforcement officials posted double red flags along Panama City Beach after several swimmers had to be pulled from the rough water.

The News Herald of Panama City reported first responders spent much of Sunday rescuing people who got caught in strong rip currents.

Two people — a 17-year-old boy and a 22-year-old woman from Tennessee — were pulled from the water about 5 p.m. Sunday. About the same time, rescuers helped a woman in her 70s who was struggling in the Gulf nearby. All three were taken to the hospital but none of their injuries appeared life threatening.

Authorities say Charles Glenn Adams of Panama City Beach drowned Saturday evening. He was unresponsive when he was pulled to shore about 7 p.m.
