JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Three people are dead after their small plane crashed into a Jacksonville pond.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the Cessna C310 crashed Sunday evening "after making a missed approach" to Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport.
Bergen says the flight had three people on board when it departed St. Lucie County International Airport in Fort Pierce for Jacksonville.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda said airport officials told police that someone on the plane told air traffic controllers that they couldn't see the runway.
Bujeda says three bodies were recovered from the pond. The sheriff's office has identified the victims as three residents of Port St. Lucie: 60-year-old Michael Huber, 20-year-old Tess Huber and 17-year-old Abigail Huber.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the crash.
