TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The man accused of shooting and killing FSU Professor Dan Markel is scheduled to face a grand jury next week.

According to the courts, Sigfredo Garcia will appear before a Grand Jury on June 16 and 17. There it will be decided if he will be indicted on first-degree murder charges.

Garcia was arrested on Wednesday, May 25 by the Hallandale Beach Police Department and was extradited to Tallahassee last week.

Soon after the extradition, previously unsealed court documents were released, naming another co-defendant in the case, Luis Rivera.

Those documents also show that police believe the motive for Markel's murder was his ex-wife's family wanted her and their children to move to south Florida with them.
