LEON COUNTY, FL. (WTXL) - The Leon County Schools was recently a target of a cyber-attack on its website. The Parent Portal was the target of the attack. According to Chris Petley with the Leon County Schools, the attack involved a Denial of Service attack, which was designed to prevent access to the Parent Portal.
The vendor of the website made a temporary change to begin addressing the problem. Currently the Parent Portal is available until a more permanent fix is put in place. The system should be permanently fixed by Friday 12/14.
The new District website (www.leonschools.net) allows the District to notify of major outages.
