Tallahassee, FL (WTXL) -- The Springtime Tallahassee Parade is just days away and hundreds of people are putting the finishing touches on the lavish floats.

Within Springtime Tallahassee there are Krewes, each represent the five historical time periods of our state’s history:Spanish (1528-1821), American Territorial (1821-1845), Antebellum Statehood (1845-1861), War and Reconstruction (1861-1900), and Twentieth Century (1900-1999).

"My favorite thing is just getting together with other Krewe members, you know having dinner while we're building. It's a good social event, we've got people from all different walks of life. This week we're here Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning" said Krewe Chief Lisa Revell.

Krewes are made up of volunteers who have been working together since January to prepare their floats for display.

Revell said, "We started the second week of January and we're almost done. When we get close to the festival, we double time.Tuesday night, pretty much no more work done, Thursday night is the big hoo-ha before the parade, where we all get to gloat over everyone elses float so to say."

Springtime Tallahassee, Inc. was chartered in 1967 as an organization dedicated to keeping Tallahassee as the state’s capital.
