CRAWFORDVILLE, FL (WTXL) -- The family of a Crawfordville man is still looking for answers into his murder two years ago.

Jody Kilgore would have turned 52 Monday.

"It's hard to talk about it, because of everything that happened to him for no reason," said his mother Gladys Kilgore.

On October 6, 2014, Gladys was on the road when she got a phone call that changed her life.

"There was no way," she said. "Nobody could hurt Jody. Jody's never done anything wrong to anybody, and I just could not believe that somebody could hurt my son like that."

Jody was found stabbed to death outside his home on Spring Court. While the investigation into his murder continues, so is his mother's quest for justice.

"I'm gonna be here 'til the end," Gladys said. "It might take me 'til I die and go to heaven, and then Jody can tell me everything about it."

The family says investigators don't have any updates, but Gladys says she's hopeful.

"It's a small town, and somebody's gotta know something," she said. "There's still a murderer walking around out there smiling and grinning, and my son is gone. There's no days that I don't think about Jody."

Monday, his family held a candlelight vigil in front of a billboard with his picture on Crawfordville Highway. About 60 people gathered to remember Jody.

"He's always with me," Gladys said, "and looking at that sign, he looks like he's telling me, 'Mama, what in the world are you doing out here doing this?' He was a very good young man."

Kilgore's family is planning a fishing tournament in his memory.

Jerry's Bait and Tackle in Crawfordville will host the event, which will be held in the fall.
