CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) - A family dog has been missing for a week in Wakulla County.

"Chico" went missing the morning of June 22.

He was roaming around the front yard of his home on Sweetwater Circle, just like he's done for years. But for some reason, he never made it back home, and his family says that's not like him.

"He doesn't have a collar, so I have the feeling that maybe somebody saw him and thought it was a lost dog and maybe picked him up," said owner Maria Morales.

Morales has been posting fliers since June 22, hoping someone will bring Chico home.

He's a 13-year-old long-haired tan and white chihuahua who's lived in that Crawfordville neighborhood his whole life.

Morales said Chico became more than a family pet when her dad Pepe came from Puerto Rico two years ago. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2014.

"Things have been very difficult, but now, we have reached stability," said Morales. "So, we believe that having Chico with him would be the best at this point."

Morales said Chico has made a huge impact on her dad.

Her dad visits on the weekends. Morales hasn't told her dad Chico's missing and she hopes she doesn't have to.

"Chico is his best friend. They are together every weekend, and he will be missing him," said Morales.

Any information can be sent by text or call to Morales' cell number 850-509-6004.
