LIVE OAK, Fla. (WTXL) - Court documents are revealing the Live Oak police sergeant accused of downloading child pornography, tried to get another officer to destroy evidence in the case.

Kyle Kirby was arrested on October 28, 2015 after federal investigators say they found he had downloaded almost 90 child porn images on a computer inside his patrol car.

They originally searched his home on October 22, but did not find anything.

According to court documents on October 25, Kirby asked a fellow officer to drive to the Live Oak police station and delete all of the files from his computer after a federal prosecutor contacted him.

Kirby also asked that officer, per court documents, to bring a shredder to his home after he deleted the files, saying he had mail to get rid of.

The court says the officer did not delete the files and instead, began looking at them and found a picture of a child who he might have known.

That's when the officer told the police chief about the picture, who then relayed the information to the FBI.
