TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A manhunt for a couple wanted in the murder of a Georgia man has ended at a Tallahassee Motel 6, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The U.S. Marshals Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FCRFTF) announced that Rondriques Brundage and Caroline Alicia Davis were arrested after authorities found them hiding out at the Motel 6 on Apalachee Parkway.
Brundage was wanted by the Dekalb County Police Department for the murder of 53-year-old Rodrell Matthews on July 8. Davis has been charged for assisting Brundage with concealing the homicide.
According to DeKalb PD, the couple is accused of stealing Rodrell's car shortly after the murder and fleeing to Tallahassee. Police do not believe the incident is gang or drug related.
An investigation by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force revealed that the couple fled to Tallahassee's Motel 6 to escape arrest by Georgia authorities.
FCRFTF members along with Leon County Sheriff’s Office K9 / Air Support and with critical assistance from the Tallahassee Police Department’s Violent Crime Response Team (VCRT) found the couple at the motel around 2:30 p.m. and arrested them.
Brundage and Davis are being held in the Leon County Jail as they await initial appearance on the State of Georgia charges as well as extradition.
The Tallahassee Division of the FRFTF is comprised of state and local law enforcement officers from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County State Attorney’s Office, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, Perry Police Department, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office.
