TALLAHASSEE, Fl (WTXL) - Residents living near Old Bainbridge road cried out to Leon County officials asking for something to be done after witnessing several car accidents in the area.
Valerie Norvell and her husband live near Old Bainbridge Rd and say they have seen to many fatal accidents on the at road, including a close friend. "He passed away out in front of our house and my husband and my son witnessed that, and we have taken that very much into our heart," said Norvell.
In the last two years, she says she have seen at least 7 accidents in that area. The most recent one was when someone hit her husband. "The most severe one that I personally came out to was my husband, a week ago. He was hit from behind as he was turning into our driveway and he was passed out and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital," Norvell says.
During a county meeting, residents voiced their concerns and came up with possible solutions to help decrease the amount of fatalities caused by what they believe to be distracted drivers.
Leon County Public Works Director Tony Park said they have began plans for a roundabout to be added in the area and expects the project to be completed by the Summer of 2016.
