TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The Leon County Administrator is asking for an inspection of county boat landings after three people drove into Lake Talquin and drowned.

According to an email from Leon County Administrator Vince Long, he is asking for the inspection to see if there is anything that can be done to the ramps other than the required signs.

"In light of the tragic accident last evening, I am asking that you conduct and inspection of our boat landings to identify if there are any additional precautions to mitigate any such accidents in the future.  I understand that all of the required signage, speed limits, etc. are already in place.  What I am asking from an engineering standpoint is if there are any other recommendations above and beyond what is required and currently in place.  If none are identified or recommended, that is ok.  I just want an honest evaluation done," said Long in the email to Tony Park, Public Works Director.

Larry Hall, Deon Wood Jr., and M'bres Petty drowned over the weekend after Hall drove the car into the lake. Authorities say he was unfamiliar with the area.

Takara Holmes, a third passenger inside the vehicle, was saved by a 15-year-old and his grandfather that happened to be in the area.

Commissioner Bill Proctor also asked for safety precautions be reviewed for the boat landing in a statement earlier this week.
