Counselor Arrested for Inappropriate Behavior with Child

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A guidance counselor was arrested Wednesday for lewd and lascivious conduct toward a child.

At 2:21 p.m., police received a report of inappropriate behavior between an adult female and a child. The two were at an apartment complex pool on the 800 block South Blairstone Road.

Witnesses told officers that they saw 28-Year-Old Kathgret Rentz, hugging and intimately kissing a child under the age of 16.

Officers said that there were at least 7 witnesses to the event.

The Leon County School System sent out a statement Thursday regarding the incident:

Leon County Schools was notified by the Tallahassee Police Department that Kathgret Rentz, Chaires Elementary School Guidance Counselor, was arrested for an off-campus incident involving inappropriate contact with a child. LCS has suspended her employment immediately and has begun the termination process. We will continue to monitor this disturbing matter. The safety of our students is our highest priority.
