COTTONDALE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Cottondale man fled from a Jackson County deputy attempting to make a traffic stop on his pickup truck and now faces drug and fleeing charges.

Donnie Ray Shores Jr., 46, was arrested Saturday and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.

He faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing/attempt to elude a law enforcement officer.

While patrolling Saturday, the deputy saw a traffic violation and tried a traffic stop on Shores, who continued traveling south on Bethlehem Road, according to a news release.

The vehicle drove up a driveway until reaching a residence.

After the pickup stopped, a K-9 unit arrived to assist the deputy.

Contact was made with the driver, Shores, the single occupant of the vehicle.

The K-9 conducted a free air sniff of the pickup and alerted on it, indicating the odor of narcotics coming from within.

Searching the pickup, the deputy found drug paraphernalia and crystal methamphetamine.
