TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As some school districts close Wednesday ahead of chilly weather, you and your family will be turning up the heat to stay warm.
However, cranking up the thermostat isn't always the most cost-effective.
According to City of Tallahassee Officials, residents tend to see a higher utility bill this time of year due to the cold weather.
They say, monitoring your thermostat, using space heaters and extra blankets can keep you warm, comfortable and help you save money.
City of Tallahassee officials also warn to be careful when turning on your central heating unit for the first time, as there may be a burn off of dust.
