HAMILTON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Hamilton County corrections officer is facing felony sexual misconduct charges after allegedly becoming impregnated with an inmate’s baby.

Tarry Avery was arrested on Jan. 4 for unlawful introduction of contraband and sexual misconduct.

According to an arrest affidavit, Avery became the subject of an investigation back in November 2017. The investigation started when inmates at the Hamilton Correctional Facility began saying that Avery was in a relationship with an inmate and was pregnant with his child.

An preliminary investigation lead authorities to find hand written letters from Avery to the inmate. They were also able to find recorded calls where the inmate instructed someone to send Avery $200 to assist with pregnancy and birth expenses.

The inmate in question later admitted to being in a relationship with Avery, but would not comment on whether he was the father of Avery's child.

Further investigation revealed the two had sex in the officer's station bathroom at the Hamilton Correctional Institution in July 2017. By August, Avery and the inmate were corresponding through hand written letters.

Avery turned herself into the Hamilton County Jail following the charges.
