Franklin County, GA (FOX Carolina) - Franklin County Deputy Coroner Clayton Bryan said former NASCAR driver James Hylton and his son were killed in a car accident Saturday morning.
Bryan said Hylton and his son were passengers in a GMC truck that crashed into a creek bank. The incident occurred on I-85 northbound near exit 164.
According to the coroner's office, the truck was pulling a trailer carrying a race car and tools.
The driver of the truck was rescued and taken to a hospital in Greenville, Bryan said.
Hylton and his son, James Hylton Jr., were both from Inman.
An autopsy has been scheduled for a later date.
The case remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
