ATLANTA, Ga. (WTXL) — Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey announced Wednesday night a plan that will add more Georgians to the eligible list to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The following groups will now be eligible according to the announcement:
- Adults aged 65 and older
- Law enforcement officers
- Firefighters
- First Responders
These groups will be added to the already existing high priority group that includes healthcare workers and staff and residents of long-term care facilities.
The expanded administration of the vaccine is expected to begin within the next two weeks provided there is adequate vaccine supply available, according to Gov. Kemp.
