PANAMA, Fla. (WTXL) — In Panama, Deane Bozeman School announced it would be closed to high school students beginning December 11 through the winter break due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases among students.
According to a school statement, there are approximately 190 high school students quarantined as a result of 10 positive cases.
All high school students, grades 9 - 12, will transition to remote learning beginning Friday. All faculty and staff will continue to report to work to teach remotely and to support our students. All high school activities, club meetings, and sporting events are canceled effective Thursday, Dec. 11.
Students in all other grades will continue to attend school in person.
The district announced the information via social media on Thursday night.
"PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Unfortunately, just like in many other parts of the country, we have seen a rise in Covid cases since the Thanksgiving Break. At this time, we have approximately 190 high school students quarantined as a result of 10 positive cases.
Working closely with the Florida Department of Health, we have made the very difficult decision to close the HIGH SCHOOL (grades 9-12) portion of Deane Bozeman effective today. High school students will return after the Christmas holidays. Students in all other grades will continue to attend school in person."
