TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Whether it's spending time in the sun, snow or snoozing, spring break is a time students can take a break from school. It can also be the first time kids get to show their independence, venturing off with their friends away from the parents.
But don't let it turn into a spring nightmare. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
"Never leave valuable items in plain view in a car", said principal Joe Burgess.
"Be careful, be smart and use good judgement", says principal Allen Burch.
"Don't text and drive", advises principal Doug Cook.
"Stay in a group and always have a safety plan", recommends Billy Epting.
Principal Shelly Bell says "Make sure to stay hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen".
"Always make sure to buckle up" is the final advice from principal Tiffany Thomas.
If partying is not your thing, you can always volunteer at, for example, a local animal shelter, or earn some money working during that week.
No matter what you do during spring break, make sure you come home safe, so you can celebrate another one next year.
If you are heading out of town, check the city and county ordinances of where you are going to make sure you obey the laws there.
