LENOX, GA (WALB) - U.S. Attorney Charles Peeler announced on Tuesday that a federal judge sentenced a South Georgia man to more than five years in prison for possession of child pornography.
Peeler said Robert Shawn Parker, 32, of Lenox is sentenced to 61 months in prison, then 25 years of supervised release.
Peeler said Parker admitted that in May of 2015, an officer identified an Internet Protocol (IP) address that was using an online peer-to-peer file-sharing site to make child pornography files available for download. The IP address was later linked to Parker's name and home address.
Based on that information, federal agents executed a search warrant at Parker's home in Lenox, in Cook County on July 28, 2015.
Agents said they found a laptop that Parker admitted he used to search for and download child pornography.
"My office will vigorously seek to prosecute those who harm children," said Peeler. "I commend the FBI for bringing Mr. Lenox to justice."
